How does Anonymous Clickstream tracking work?

Anonymous Clickstream tracking is an integration offered that stores viewed page data from your web site for anonymous users up to 30 days and makes that tracking data available in your account if/when the visitor signs up for your email list.

Anonymous Clickstream tracking can be used to increase personalization in segments, automation, and lead scoring. It is viewable in Clickstream reports and on individual contact records as well.
 

How Does It Work?

This is an enabled integration, once the integration is turned on for your account you will need to implement the JavaScript provided in Settings > Integrations > Clickstream / Browse Tracking. 

Click the "Clickstream / Browse Tracking" button. In the pop-up that displays, click the information icon to access the JavaScript:

This JavaScript code will drop a cookie on the user's web browser. Once the user subscribes to your mailing list and clicks through an email link the associated anonymous browsing tracking data (recognized by the cookie) will be added to their contact record in your account.

2. There is a separate code for purchase tracking specifically for cart pages, etc. 
   
   
3. The JavaScript code allows for tagging of your pages to categorize them for later use. For example, when adjusting lead scores for contacts to include their browse data, you can include a statement to say browsed "Livingroom Furniture" pages rather than inserting all specific URLs for pages that contain Livingroom furniture.
