You may at certain times need to pull a list of all recipients that did not open a campaign.
There is not a way to generate a list of non-openers in the Mailing Overview or Tracking Statistics report. If it is a small enough segment, you can compare Successfully Sent to Unique Opens, but for most sizeable segments that is a little messy and not super efficient.
The most efficient way to check non-openers would be to create a segment.
- Go to Contacts
- Choose Segments on the left-hand side
- Click the Create a Regular Segment button
- Name Your Segment
- Choose Clause: Action
- Choose 'Did Not Open' and then the mailing you wish to look at plus any date range if applicable (you do not have to select a date range).
- Click Ok.
- Click Save and Test and it will pull a list of names. Consider saving that segment as a simple "non-openers" for re-use so you can edit it to the mailing you want to see at any time.
Pro-Tip: If you would like to pull additional fields in with your list of emails click the "Advanced Options" on your segment builder page and find the section "Include columns to display". Select any additional items you want to show.
This is the result page. You can see the email address and the First Name (along with Contact ID). You can always export this to excel as well.
If you know ahead of time that you will want to resend your campaign to non-openers AND you are on a Professional or Enterprise license, consider setting the campaign up as an automation journey.
Choose a "Start with Email" automation and use your original campaign as the first email. Choose a Wait for Event or a pause and a flag event and choose "Opened" or "Did Not Open".
