In the Contacts dashboard you can manage subscriber records. There are two types of subscribers: Email and SMS.
Email contacts are stored and managed separately of SMS contacts. We do this because it is possible for your contacts to opt in / opt out of these channels independently. For example, you may have contacts that have opted into / out of email only, contacts that have opted into / out of SMS only, and contacts that have opted into / out of both email and SMS.
How are contacts added?
Email contacts are typically added by any of these ways:
- Manual data import
- Automated transfer of data via (S)FTP or API from your system to ours
- Web form submission
SMS contacts are typically added by any of these ways:
- Manual data import
- Automated transfer of data via (S)FTP or API from your system to ours
- Web form submission
- Opt-in via keyword on mobile device
Can I link Email and SMS contact records?
Yes! It is possible for an Email contact and SMS contact record to be connected in your account. It requires one of these scenarios:
1. Import a file containing both Email and SMS details.
2. Include Email opt-in into the SMS opt-in process from mobile device
3. Include Email opt-in and SMS opt-in in one web form.
