If you are managing more than one account there may be a need to send a campaign to segments in other accounts. In this article we will discuss the processing of a sent email where segments from multiple accounts are used. We will proceed with the assumption that the email is setup in account "a" and included a segment from account "b."
1) Which Draft queue does it go into, account "a" or "b"?
It goes into the Draft queue of account "b", where the segment lives.
At time of scheduling, you'll see a message like this if an email campaign has been setup with segments from other accounts:
2) Does the reporting show under account "a" or "b"?
The email to the segment from account "b" will be sent from account "b", so that's where the report for that segment will reside. Tip: Report Groups can be created across accounts to tie those sent emails together for reporting.
3) If the recipient unsubscribes, will it unsubscribe them from account "a" or "b"?
The recipient will *probably* will be unsubscribed from account "b". Why only probably?
The footer that gets attached to the email campaign occurs when the designed email file is imported in the email campaign setup process. If the email campaign was setup from account "a", the recipient that unsubscribed would be unsubscribed in account "a". Typically unsubscribe links use a merge tag to refer to the account name, which makes it dynamic. The recipients clicking the unsubscribe link would be unsubscribed from "b" and not "a" because of that merge.
However, if for some reason--and this would be very unusual--the footer in account "a" contained hard-coded reference to the name of account "a", then the link would try to unsubscribe the recipient from account "a".
