You've completed a re-engagement campaign to identify inactive subscribers. What's next?
Subscribers that did not engage should be removed from your regularly used segments or categories. There are a variety of ways to accomplish. The most commonly used option is to change the contact status to expired in the system. There are two ways to do this: export identified email addresses and re-import them to change the status. Or, if you used our Automation tool to re-engage subscribers, you can easily change contact status within the automation workflow.
Use the Update Field step to change contact status
Open your workflow to add a step to change the contact status. Locate and drag the "Update Field" step into your workflow. Click the pencil icon to edit. Click "Insert Field". Scroll to find "Contact Status" in the menu and click it to select. Click "ok". Note: Expired status is the only option available at this time for Automation.
The above steps are specific to using Automation. Other options include changing a demographic field value to remove the contacts from a segment, creating a specific category for disengaged subscribers, or change their contact status within the system manually.
